Office Design & Fit-out Project, King’s Lynn

In addition to the general design and fit-out aspects of the project, the following issues had to be addressed as part of the brief:

  • Live Site

As this was an existing working environment, the project involved relocating all employees into temporary accommodation on the Bespak site whilst refurbishment works were carried out.

  • Acoustics

The existing building had noise and privacy issues in certain areas. This was addressed by installing standard and glazed acoustic partitioning where necessary.

  • Heating & Cooling

The existing heating system was very inefficient and difficult to control.  This was addressed by introducing a new, updated heating & cooling system, together with new suspended ceilings to house the new units.

  • Asbestos Handling

Asbestos was present in certain areas of the building. This needed to be expertly removed by licensed specialists.

The Client

With various locations across the UK, Bespak develops and manufactures complex medical devices.

COEL was commissioned to design, fit-out and refurbish their existing offices in Kings Lynn.

The Brief

The project brief was to totally refurbish the existing, dated offices to create an amazing space in which employees would enjoy working.

Bespak wanted the space to have a light, clean, fresh feel and reflect the company’s style and new corporate branding.

Project Size

26,000 ft²/280+ people

The Design

In order to understand the spatial and functional requirements for the space, COEL completed a series of Departmental Briefing Workshops and Team questionnaires. This information was interpreted into a clear summary of space and functional requirements, which enabled COEL to set about designing and creating the contemporary working environment envisaged by the client.

To achieve the required look and feel, white bench desks, storage and meeting room furniture was installed, with splashes of colour being introduced through sceening, soft seating, flooring and accessories.  Innovative meeting pods and a selection of breakout furniture has been used to facilitate collaborative working and reduce the need for built, formal meeting rooms.
